Cypripedium montanum

Cypripedium montanum
This is the Mountain Lady's Slipper, rather common in our area if one knows where to look for it. This example was photographed in eastern Washington where we found several new locations for them this spring.

I believe, Pam, that it is fluff from the Cottonwood trees rather than Dandelion seeds. The area is sufficiently remote that the Dandelions haven't made it there, but Cottonwoods do grow along the streams.
