Notables buried under the floor of Santa Croce cathedral. I suppose there is a record of who these people are. There were many more than I photographed. (See PiP for another scene.)

The brochures were concerning a mask-making course by Prof. Agostino. Their website, found by Peggy C, includes a great video about the course: alicemasks.weebly.com/courses.html (See PiP for a detail.)

I like the black leather masks best and, although I'm not a shoe nut, the tiny footwear was adorable. There is even a reflection of a masked figure with legs...a-hem. Our friend, Peggy C, found this: alicemasks.weebly.com Grazie mille, Peggy!

A beautiful latch on the parishioners' door*, Basilica of San Lorenzo. The others are "ghost" doors and windows on another building in Florence. *Local people who come in to say prayers use this side door, rather than the main (tourists') entrance.

Santa Croce bell tower

I can't believe it's been nine years. This is the back of the basilica, where I happened to find myself after touring the basilica and the famous Leather School of Santa Croce. italyexplained.com/florence-artisans-the-santa-croce-leather-school It was charming to be all alone in an area free of tourists when the bell began to ring.

Pardon my shaky camera. This is in back of the basilica, with no other people around.

How to attract the Americans walking by? French fry pizza! It didn't work for me, it looked terrible. I had a salad, instead.
