Fire down to the valley floor
Photo by my daughter-in-law from their yard. The Tennant Fire near Dorris, California. Terrible heat wave from N. Calif. to middle of BC, Canada. We've had shocking heat. The highest was 128f / 53c in the village of Lytton, BC!!! The next day, the town of abt. 250 burned to the ground as residents ran for their lives. Two died. Terrible. (Thinking of you, BC!)
Other records broken on 28 June:
Portland, OR - 118f / 48c
Seattle, WA - 109f / 43c
Klamath Falls, OR - 105f / 41c
Meanwhile, extreme drought, high winds, and news stations report heat-related deaths are at least in the high hundreds in the Pacific west of North America. Since the record-breaking temps, it's been in the high 90s every day and will continue there for at least a week. Another severe "heat dome" after that, but will cover more of California and perhaps Nevada and Arizona.
