A shame, I suppose. All businesses such as this have at their heart an idea, a vision, a family to support and when it all goes horribly wrong ... I always shudder at the consequences. I know . I have been through the odd bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession, etc. etc.
My only saving grace is that I came away from a divorce without kids to support. A bittersweet result perhaps!

The "architecture" of our plans is so fragile, isn't it? As individuals we're quite resilient...although during life's catastrophes we don't think we are! It's probably safe to say that everyone here has gotten through nightmares large and small. I raise my hand for enough of them to be satisfied with an almost completely uneventful life, now. ;-b

Regarding small businesses, restaurants in this country have something like an 80% fail rate. It's brutal.
