Ruins south of Rome
October, 2011. It was such a thrill for an American to be in a place with ancient ruins scattered seemingly at random throughout the countryside, or along a city railroad track, and the Italians with you not exactly sure what they were. I was travelling with Google Earth moderators and the Canadian, Australian and New Zealander felt the same way. Really, Europeans, you have no idea how eye-popping it is for someone from the Land of the New!
From a few resurrected photos of the trip - there are others in my gallery.
