Memorial cross
This is the only thing I could find out about the cross, from the caption on a Getty Image: "...a cross atop [Castle] Rock overlooking the Tule Lake Segregation Camp, in Newell, Ca..." This refers to the WWII Japanese-American internment camp in the basin below. It was located on the east side of Newell, California. More info: tinyurl.com/jq26s4w
