Meist stehen Heiligenfiguren auf hohen Säulen und Podesten, unerreichbar. Nicht so die bronzene Statue vor dem Eingang von St. Jakob! Sie ist der Liebling der Besucherinnen und Besucher aus aller Welt geworden: Viele posieren für ein Foto mit ihm. Manche scheint der Bronze-Jakobus zu umarmen oder sie legen selbst den Arm um ihn. Der Finger seiner linken Hand ist von den unzähligen Berührungen schon blank gerieben, so dass er jetzt einen goldenen Zeigefinger hat. (PiP) Alles macht er mit, ein Jakobus zum Knuddeln und Anfassen.

Dabei wollte man ihn anfangs gar nicht hier haben und so stellte man den Jakobus am 31. März 2001 erst einmal probeweise auf, bis mit einer Spendensammelaktion die Figur vollends bezahlt war.

Mostly figures of saints stand on high columns and pedestals, unreachable. Not so the bronze statue in front of the entrance of St. James! He has become the favorite of visitors from all over the world: many pose for a photo with him. Some seem to embrace the bronze James or put their arm around it themselves. The finger of his left hand has already been rubbed brightly by the countless touches, so that he now has a golden index finger. (PiP) He join in everything, a James to cuddle and touch.

In the beginning, they didn't want him here at all, and so James was for the time being set up on March 31, 2001, until the figure was fully paid for with a fundraising campaign ➽ Source
