➽ Der Tiefe Brunnen befindet sich im Burghof der Festung Marienberg bei Würzburg. Den Brunnen umgibt ein Brunnenhaus, auch Brunnentempel genannt.
Die bauliche Umfassung des Brunnens wurde im Auftrag von Julius Echter um 1600 durch Jakob Wolff dem Älteren errichtet, um das Wasser vor Verunreinigung zu schützen. Es handelt sich um einen achteckigen Zentralbau, der außen mit Köpfen von Fabeltieren als Wasserspeier geschmückt ist. Auf dem Dach ist die Bronzefigur der Fortuna zu sehen.

➽ The Deep Well is located in the courtyard of the fortress Marienberg near Würzburg.The well is surrounded by a well house, also called well temple.
The structural enclosure of the well temple was built in 1600 by Jakob Wolff the Elder on behalf of Julius Echter to protect the water from contamination. It is an octagonal central building, decorated on the outside with heads of mythical creatures as gargoyles. On the roof you can see the bronze figure of Fortuna.
