River Dee bridge mist

After a freezing night at the end of November I awoke to see this thick fog. As we were visiting the beautiful city of Chester I decided that the mist may be interesting on the river. The resulting scene set my hairs on end. Here we see the very old River Dee Bridge looking like a scene from a Charles Dickens novel. The smoking chimney and people on the bridge adds to the charm.

Bellowing red deer at Rutting time.

Red Deer Rut at Tatton Park, Cheshire The sound of a red deer stag bellowing is both unmistakeable and unforgettable. At this time of year stags are battling to show their dominance to gather together a harem of females. As always, beautiful at full screen. See pip

Peace on the fish pond

A glimpse of Autumn 2008 whilst we were staying at a spot we often frequented near Delemere Forest, Cheshire. Looking at this years November captures, this looks more like the middle of Summer rather than early Winter. Enjoy this whilst most of us are experiencing a very cold spell. Nice full screen.

HFF- Winter on the fish pond

A great memory for me here at a spot I loved to frequent some time back. This bridge led to a small fishing stand but when I was here last, even the bridge had disappeared. However the whole scene demonstrates again the beauty of our Earth and its diverse wildlife which is now in a lot of danger. Let’s hope that the New Year brings new hope against global warming and peace on Earth too. The Pip shows another from the same pond. It just remains for me to say HFF and enjoy the coming New Year

Lyme House

Any trip to Lyme Park near Stockport, Cheshire must include a look around the house and gardens here. Enjoy this wonderful view of what is in reality the back of the house. Behind me gardens and woodland walks abound and it is even populated by deer. The house dates from the latter part of the 16th century. Unlike many great estates, Lyme was a much-loved home to generations of one family and their valued and loyal workers. Living through England's most troubled times, the Legh family hung on to their home and (mostly) their heads, and this impact can still be seen across the estate today. The largest estate in Cheshire, Lyme has been designed on a grand scale over a number of centuries. It has been a place to receive occasional royal guests, take friends hunting or to entertain on a lavish scale. The exterior of the hall was used as Pemberley, the seat of Mr Darcy, in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice. This lake being the one showing the dashing Mr Darcy swimming. Enjoy full screen.
