The light of Rannoch Moor

The light of Rannoch Moor
As we pass through the Rannoch Moor area of Scotland, once again I am delighted with the lighting here. A rugged wild place that I suspect could be quite dangerous for the lone explorer at times. Even with the numerous Scottish biting midges, a place that I really don’t want to rush with my camera.

Enjoy full screen

Do you mean Rannoch Moor? Lovely soft lighting.Maybe it;s best to visit when the 'midgies' are out of season.

Well spotted Amelia. Indeed as a Sasanach I spelt it as I spoke it. In reality there were more midges here than we witnessed elsewhere during that fortnights holiday. Glad you liked the shot.

Best Wishes. Herb

ps this is the third of the moor that I have posted on Ipernity with the same misspelling of Rannoch Moor with a k instead of the ch and you are the first to have spotted the now glaring mistake. Thanks for that.

Such a beautiful scene.............and as you say, such glorious light..!!

I like the sky and cloud formations and the earthy colours in the landscape and the light on the water is particularly nice!

A super capture Herb..!!

Light is everything in such a place as this, as you know Keith. A great place to explore with a camera and although the light could have been even better I was pleased that it offered some variation with the scenes I took.

Cheers. Herb

A fine capture Herb,. yes midges are murder - we know them from our short stay hut at Rivelin . my dad use to say ''If we'd subjected Hitler to a swarm - he'd have surrendered straight away'' :-)
Keep well and go steady - Cheers from > Dj.

We spend a lot of time in that area and the only time we have ever been "midged" was while waiting at Rannoch station to take the train up to Corrour (the highest railway station in the UK). Corrour station, near Loch Ossian, is not accessible by road but is a good starting point for a walk up Corrour summit and back to Rannoch.
