Peartree Cove and The Pinnacles

Peartree Cove and The Pinnacles
Peartree Cove is another of Devon's tiny but beautiful sandy coves. Just about a mile to the west of Start Point lighthouse near Salcombe. There are actually three sandy mini-coves here, and yes, there were sunbathers here too.

An idyllic place, Herb. The British coast takes some beating.

It sure does Amealia. I have been fortunate to travel abroad too but our coast just has so much variation in a relative small area. Cheers, herb

What a beautiful cove! It reminds me of the many holidays we had in Devon and Cornwall when the kids were young :) Regards, Rosa.

Ah yes Rosa, pretty typical of so many of the coastal scenes around Devon and Cornwall. It was in fact much better than we thought it might have been. A great place to live near for sure, of course providing you have the means to live!

Yes, it was those two 'pointy' rocks that drew us here -or closer at least, as this was the turn-around point back to the lighthouse for us.

A terrific image of this beautiful and secluded beach. I love the curve formed by the jagged rocks, but I'm guessing that there's an unseen access somewhere near - unless access is only from the seawards side?

Great work Herb!

Good to see more observations from you Keith. The rocks were really interesting here. I am only a few feet from the coast path here and as you say, a rather tricky funnel takes the punters down onto the main beach and from there, easily to the other two. -No need to paddle! An alternative path here takes us back to the lighthouse a short-cut way!

Good to see that you are still with me here Dave. A brilliant stretch of the coastline in front, as well as behind (as my previous pictures attest.) Seals bathing just a few hundred feet from here too. Glad you liked it.

Thanks George. I think you know that our SW Britain has much of this kind of scenery. I like you, love it -but its not Norway!

It is a kind of paradise lost.
Hope it could be maintained forever in this beautiful simplicity.

Perhaps more like 'found' my friend. Fortunately, this coastline for many miles is owned and looked after by our 'National Trust' and so is effectively protected. It's also some distance from the roads here which are themselves far from any big towns so these coves are mainly deserted and in pristine condition. Hopefully, our chaotic climate changes will not alter all that!
