The Grandeur of Harlech Castle

The Grandeur of Harlech Castle
Set on the coast of North Wales is this medieval fortification of Harlech castle in its broody glory fronting the old town. One of King Edwards line of fortifications here in Wales. Constructed between 1282-1289 now an empty ruin that is a joy to explore. It is amazing that the sea seen about 2km in the distance here once lapped the base of the rock that castle sits upon.

Doug Shepherd, Syborgh, , Erhard Bernstein have particularly liked this photo

Hi David, great to see you again. I presume you stem from this part of the world with a name like yours. We were looking forward to coming here and it was well worth the visit but as you can see the weather was pretty flat.I did however get another shot later from a few miles further down the coast with slightly better lighting and so might post that on here too. As can be seen, this is quite large with quite a bit of walking walls to explore as well as old towers. You should pay it a visit.
Cofion gorau to you too :) Herb

The best lighting is cloudy no strong shadows biggest complaint in OZ . the 10mm certainly brings the place all together great place to explore.

Yep Steve, the 10mm shows us the castle interior proper. You can see just how big and solid these places were. A great place to explore and snap for sure. Plenty of shadowless days around here which I would happily swap for some of your bright shdow days :) Herb

Nice shot Herb. Although the light is poor, it seems to me to add some element of drama.

Best regards, Doug
