Lower's Nebula SH2-261

Lower's Nebula SH2-261
Lower's nebula (Sh2-261) is found on the outermost edge of our Milkyway between the Orion and Perseus arm. The target is very close to the Dreyer's Nebula that you see right next door.

Dreyer's Nebula IC 447

This was cut short by the moon rising to this target but the three nights data yield is very good target. I want to do two targets that are in the same area so I have to wait for at least 6 days to get the targets free of direct moon light. This looks to me all the look of a brain.

Thanks I really will come back to this target and do it again the moon just happened to get in the way. I tend to shoot south track of the sky but this is in the northern side of the Milky way arm.

Always good to see your deep space shots Steve. We don’t see much like this on Ipernity and just looking at what you have used here without your technical knowledge too, we can see why. You know that this stuff is just too complex for us to give a real technical appraisal. I, like others here can only comment on what we see as a photo like any other but wow, what a photo, unique is what I say. Congratulations.

Herb you already know this is not just a press the button on the camera and that is the shot. there is a lot of technical goings on that have to be tamed to get the shot. the learning makes this part of the job now a pleasure to be able to do. as a kid I was always fascinated with things in books my father had. while they where old they dont come a patch with what I have here so I am glad I did all the "hard yards" to get to this point. this does not mean I am no longer learning that part does not stop. my idea to do this in retirement was a good idea it keeps the brain very active. Glad that you like the shots you can see the progression of learning on these pages. I have a few things I want to do this year they may yet be a project too far have to wait and see.

Many thanks this is only the beginning of the year...
