My step-granddaughter was watching new arrivals of wild Nokota yearlings one summer. This was on a ranch in Minnesota. The horses did not let humans near them. My step-granddaughter used a long stick to keep them at bay but also let them come near her when they overcame their fear of humans. The horses were a lot smaller than normal riding horse breeds.
