The King's Bridge (49A) over the Llangollen Canal

The King's Bridge carries the road from Pentrefelin to Berwyn over the Llangollen Canal, the River Dee and beneath the Llangollen and Corwen Railway viaduct. It was built in 1902-1906 and named to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII. Built of rock-faced rubble with arches in blue engineering brick, the bridge has five segmental arches set on three water piers at the south end and is threaded through one arch of the 1862 railway viaduct. The piers have triangular cutwaters on the upstream side. The northern arch spans the Llangollen Canal and is numbered 49A in the canal bridge series.

HFF from the Ladies of Langollen

Plas Newydd, ("new hall" or "new mansion"), is an historic house in the town of Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales, and was the home of the Ladies of Llangollen, Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby, for nearly 50 years. Today, it is run as a museum by Denbighshire County Council. It ls notable as the home where two Irish ladies, (the Ladies of Llangollen) eloped and set up house together in the late 18th century, scandalising contemporary British society. British Railways

SC105 - Logo This logo might have been the pride of the country at one point, but these days our rail system is fragmented, and not working properly Billions of pounds have been spent on the HS2 which was meant to connect London (the main concern) to all places north. The length of the new railway has been reduced substantially since it was first announced in 2013. It was originally to split into eastern and western branches north of Birmingham Interchange forming a Y configuration. The most northerly point of the eastern branch of the Y would have been a connection to the East Coast Main Line south of York. There was to be a branch to a terminus in Leeds and a connection to the Midland Main Line. The most northerly point of the western branch of the Y would have been a connection to the West Coast Main Line south of Wigan. There would have been a branch to a terminus in Manchester and a connection to the West Coast Main Line at Crewe. Between November 2021 and October 2023 the project was progressively cut until only the London to Handsacre and Birmingham section remained. Courtesy of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Speed_2 . If I wanted to get to London, I'd have to catch a bus. once every 2 hours, to Shrewsbury, find a parking space, and eventually get onto a train to Euston. I have always been able to do this, so no improvement, although apparently it could be 20 minutes quicker .... . The first PiP is not a logo for fruit, but an old logo for Pears Soap. The second PiP is clearly the recycling logo, but it's a really useful service offering to recycle sports gear.
