Norwich rooftops. World Photography Day 2024

Norwich rooftops. World Photography Day 2024
James exhaustion

To be honest, the photo of James, our youngest grandson, taking a breather by Cow Tower along the riverside path, would have been my choice for World Photography Day 2024, but it is a personal photo and so not really for public viewing. He is a 15 year old and quite autistic, as well as being much taller than Adrian and me, and he now walks much faster than we do

Eric Desjours, Misou 49, Paolo Tanino, Fred Fouarge and 23 other people have particularly liked this photo

So many varying rooftops! I like how they all seem to merge into one building from this perspective.

Is this a normal view for you? Or did you happen across it, or decide to go there for our event?

Happy World Photography Day!

We travel to Norwich about 4-5 times a year to help out with our youngest grandson and walking is what we do with him. To be honest, Laura, I forgot about WPD until we got back and I looked at the photos. This view is taken from the castle, and we quite often walk around the top to look at the architecture. The cathedral spire can be seen from many places around the cit.y

Well, taking care of a grandson is the perfect reason to forget about World Photogarphy Day! ( I have a grandson also, and love helping out with him.)

My father was an architect and having grown up in an architecturally designed home has defintely given me a large interest in artchitecture from all time periods.

peace.

Norwich is full of fine buildings, Laura. The building in front of the cathedral is the old Royal Hotel, now the Royal Business Centre. I think it's one of the best Victorian buildings I've ever seen. Elegant design and free of gratuitous ornament. It looks as if it's floating. And then there's City Hall, the Guildhall, the Forum, etc. If you like architecture, you'll love Norwich.

I love this style of architecture, Amelia; so much better than modern monstrosities. Have a great weekend. All the best, Joe

A beautiful and nicely detailed view over the rooftops Amelia..............despite the grey sky, the light is quite lovely. I like the gull in flight.

I really like the image in your PiP as well. Both of my grandchildren are autistic and it can make for some interesting and challenging days out, but I wouldn't change them for the world and I expect you feel the same way.,

I love the rooftop view and the majestic spire in the distance gives a focal point Amelia.
The photo of your grandson enjoying the sun is really lovely. Is he waiting for you to catch up with him?!One of my grandsons, whilst not autistic, had a lot of learning difficulties because his poor hearing was not picked up at his school and he was largely ignored. By this time he had almost made up his own language from what he could hear. My daughter changed his school and now he is grown up but still has a lovely childlike innocence about him and is the sweetest of lads. I expect you feel the same about your grandson too.

An excellent photo for WPD

Best wishes Carol

A fine example of the skill and thought that went into buildings in the past

Different roof generations well presented.
Fortunately nowadays autistic persons have their place in our societies, I would have chosen this portrait of him as main for this day, the portrait conveys an important message.

I'm not sure what work James will be able to do when he finally leaves Special needs Education. He also has had the problem of having been born with a double cleft lip and palate, so even now his speech is not clear, and they are still having to do a lot of dental work on his mouth, but he is a cheerful soul, and easy to get along with compared to many teenagers

“Hey, I'm here too! Which applies just as much to the cathedral pointing its nose as it does to your grandson “inviting himself” into your photo.
Original and successful for this world day, Amelia.
