It seems British Rail still exists. (Thought it was privatised, divided and sold to private investors.)

Anyway, the logo has some resemblance to the logo of the NS (Netherlands Railways), one of its daughter comapnies operates trains and busses in the UK. So the logo of the NS is sometimes travelling on the logo of BR

You are correct, Diederik. After privatization in the 90s the rail system became National Rail, but the double arrow logo remained.

I've only been to Shrewsbury once but it left a very good impression, partly thanks to a wonderful, but eccentric, waiter.

Coincidentally I had a similar experience in Shrewsbury whilst visiting the castle when a waiter approached with a silver tray of Shrewsbury biscuits and offered them round. .If that is the way they welcome visitors it's a lesson some other public attractions might follow.
