Part of Yorkminster
The Cathedral and Metropolitan Church of Saint Peter in York, commonly known as York Minster, is the cathedral of York, England, and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe. The English Reformation led to the looting of much of the cathedral's treasures and the loss of much of the church lands. Under Elizabeth I there was a concerted effort to remove all traces of Roman Catholicism from the cathedral; there was much destruction of tombs, windows and altars.

The Yorkist rose shown in the photo is white in colour, because in Christian liturgical symbolism, white is the symbol of light, typifying innocence and purity, joy and glory. I bought this piece of history about 35 years ago. I used to buy souvenirs of places that we visited, but haven't done so for about 25 years.
