TSC. January 1st 2017
My January reading list + new scarf and bracelet.
The PiP is what I used to read + a piece of old jewelry that I can no longer wear as the catch is broken. The new Commercial Arithmetic was my Father's. The battered dark red dictionary belonged to a great uncle.
The prize for merit is a leather-bound version of Oliver Twist which I was awarded in my last year in primary school.

We occasionally have a good clear out, taking books that we will never read again to be recycled. Old favourites always stay with us of course.

Amelia club has replied to Andy Rodker clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Amelia clubRyanair have a very restrictive weight policy and it is impossible to pack enough necessities for yourself in your hand-luggage, let alone extras such as heavy books, unless you want to pay a fortune for a suitcase in the hold. I don't!
Occasionally I get a lift from my sister's family if they drive over. But they are a whole family and space is at a premium. But I can just about smuggle a few books then but that's about it.
When I first moved to Spain I did get my most essential books boxed up and sent by UPS but the other factor is bookshelf space. You don't see many bookshelves here, the walls are made of stuff that is impossible to drill holes in! Space precludes it too; I live in a very nice but small studio flat.
Sorry for the long explanation!!!!
All best wishes,
Andy
