This malarky of on-line travel booking is a breeze. Mandi has used this particular way of booking airline seats etc for the last couple of years and I must say it is certainly easier than I remember of old.
I remember when we had to go to Travel Agents to look for holidays and then they had to search and find the right hotel for us, then arrange what airport we were going to fly from, arrange transfers for us from airport to resort. Then we'd have the hassel of paying them by cheque at that time and have to wait weeks before the ticket came, at least two weeks before we left. Then we'd have to queue for ages to get to the check-in desk at the airport and hope that we had decent seats.
Nowadays it's all on-line. A couple of weeks or so ago, Mandi booked two seats for us to fly to Bodrum, Turkey so we could see her hubby. As they have a house with a spare bedroom, we only had to find the money for the flight itself. We booked the flight and at the same time they allocated us seats. I need assistance around the airports so they've arranged for me to have a wheelchair at both airports.
I also needed to apply for my visa to visit Turkey, again all done on-line and then we had to arrange transfer to the house, all on-line.
This afternoon, we printed off all the tickets and confirmation etc, seat allocations, and the confirmation of parking the car at the airport, and the transfer from the airport in Bodrum which will take us directly to the house.
What a relaxing way to do things. We just sat here and did it all on-line with no walking around the shops to find the best deal for a holiday. Everything done at home.
So now all we have to do is pack................ that means sorting out which clothes I'm taking with me and hoping that they'll still fit me from last year.
This computer lark is brilliant isn't it.

OK, in your case you and Mandi are going to one destination, so only the Air travel part to be paid online as you intend driving from home to your Airport. Yes, doing in online is easy and no doubt you've saved money.
For me when going to Japan I had to book Air tickets, Rail Pass, and many Hotels, I also booked a Taxi because parking a car at the airport in the secure area for a month would cost more than many taxi trips.
Air ticket I got from a Swedish company so I saved the VAT which here is 25%.
Rail Pass I purchased from British Rail so again no VAT.
Hotels were booked from agents in Singapore, Thailand and Japan, in all cases the money was not taken from my Bank until I had signed out of each Hotel. On the day prior to departure I received an SMS informing me that I should confirm by reply on the way to the airport, no booking in, just direct to the airline desk and hand in my baggage.
Total cost including money used during my stay was £2400 at the exchange rate of the time.
Japan issues one month holiday visas on entry.
To have used Travel agents here would cost more than twice that amount,
I know this because my ex wife booked a ten day trip to view Japanese Gardens, it would have cost £2600 and did not include transport or food. I must add she cancelled after hearing how cheap my trip would be.
Not long now.
Have a great holiday.
Jenny McIntyre club has replied to Stormlizard clubNo not long now John, 7 days.
Stormlizard club has replied to Jenny McIntyre clubMy input was to find an Hotel that was convenient for them to collect me from.
The first of these holidays 2006 gave two surprises, the one was that one friend working in New Jersey flew home just to go out one evening with me in Tokyo, the second was a late agreement from one wishing to do something special, he lives in Kanagawa on a mountain so no Hotels, he suggested Yokohama, fine except that there was a major Conference during that period, the agent found a room, I decided OK, went to pay and learned "Too late pal its gone" Ouch, the agent however made an offer I could not refuse, at no extra charge I could have the Bridal suite in the most luxurious hotel in Yokohama.
Wonderful except there was no bride !!
Yes Jenny, just seven days to pack whatever you want to have with you.
Happy Packing.

We then all went to a big department store called Robinsons where our friend Aie was store manager and he bought replacements for the lot using her Staff rebate card to get it extra cheap before he left to go to Vietnam via Singapore on his next assignment.
LOL
