Then he called me out to see what had just landed near him - a dragonfly..........
Unfortunately it didn't stop long, I think it was just having a breather. I just love their completely transparent wings........... wonderful.......
Yet again Boo had to come out and inspect, and I've noticed that she just loves to sit in the detritus of the old pots which Mickey has put to the side............
She's one strange cat............ LOL
As I was coming round the side of the house, I saw that some sweetpeas had started to flower - that's wonderful because most of them had been nibbled at by some rotten bug......
Also some wild flower had revisited the pot from last year - what a surprise.....
Finally Mickey sat down - what a sight, long shorts with socks and sandals - still he's been an absolute brick to do all this work for me - he's enjoyed himself apparently - and I've loved having him here..... so he now can relax for a full day before his marathon journey.........
Poor man his back is really sore - he'll be so glad to get home and sit on his vibrating chair - mmm I've heard of these - you do have to sit on them the proper way apparently.... don't know why LOL
The Dragonfly looks very much like a Common Hawker, bit difficult as the colouring looks faded.
I think maybe a male but you can look it up on Wiki. Many Dragonfly's fade a bit with age, there are several very similar Hawkers, common, southern, migrant and Autumn, only small differences in marking will give a correct ID, male and female differ in colour so it is the tail end that finally lets you know if it is Mr or Mrs.
Stormlizard club has replied to Jenny McIntyre clubThe Dragonfly world can be very confusing at times, and there really are a lot of them everywhere in the world.
I like Mick's trousers, a good amount of pockets there.
Hope he has a safe journey home.
