Composer Ken Hirsch has worked with writers as diverse as Howard Greenfield, Hal David, Doc Pomus, Gerry Goffin, Phil Cody, Paul Williams, carole bayer Sager and Ron Miller. "I've Never Been To Me" was one of those ventures. This was recorded at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe..
"I've Never Been To Me" (Ron Miller - Kenneth Hirsch) was recorded first by Randy (Veronica) Crawford on the 1976 album "Everything Must Change". That's Ralph MacDonald on percussion and the flugelhorn talents of Hugh Masekela.
Charlene's single "I've Never Been To Me" was released in 1977 on her self-titled debut album but didn't hit until 1982 when it reached number three on Billboard. When the song became a hit Charlene (Oliver) was working in a candy store in England and was contacted by Motown Records to re-release the song before she became a "one hit wonder".
