Cousin of country music's Louvin Brothers (Ira and Charlie Loudermilk), the great John D. Loudermilk aka Johnny Dee aka Ebe Sneezer wrote "Thou Shalt Not Steal" and RCA released it as a single in 1962.
Regulars on "Shindig" Dick (Gosting) and Dee Dee's (Mary Sperling) cover of "Thou Shalt Not Steal" took the tune to the top fifteen in 1964. The song is again, from the album of the same name and was the duo's last top twenty hit. Dick and Dee Dee were the opening act for the Rolling Stones 1964 California tour.
