Wer nach Rumänien in Urlaub fährt, muß hart im Nehmen sein: Vampirwitze, Knoblauchwitze, Autoknackerwitze. Grau sei es da und sicher auch verdammt gefährlich, davon sind viele überzeugt. Wer mal dort war, staunt: Darüber, wie sicher man sich fühlt. Wie freundlich man empfangen wird. Wie gut man übernachten kann. Wie bunt, vielfältig, kulturträchtig und landschaftlich reizvoll Rumänien ist. Römer, Ungarn, Deutsche,Osmanen, Österreicher haben ihre Spuren hinterlassen: in den Bauten, der Sprache, der Küche... Ein Land im Wandel, das sich häutet, verändert - was kann es Spannenderes geben? So viele Facetten, so viele Überraschungen, so viele Kontraste: Städte mit trendiger Jugendkultur, glitzernden Clubs, geschmackvollen Lokalen und prächtigen Palästen, zwischendrin sozialistische Plattenbauten.
