thanks for the feedback, actually I had one version more close to your idea, but I chose for the one with more details in the high lights. I am not totally satisfied with the result.

That indeed ruins the details on rightmost poppy. Did you try increasing the highlights with curves tool or for example with highlights increase tool on PicMonkey?

Yes, I tried that too, but the contrast gets too hard, I like more the soft tones.
