Far Northern South Australia desert. Here the temperatures reach into the 50's in summer. The miners dug out one room stone houses from the earth and rock. This little town is hundreds of kilometers from any other town or city. It is still an opal mining town. ON BLACK PLEASE

In the remote South Australian desert is the town of Woomera, where from the 1950's onwards joint secret testing of rockets, missiles and weapons was conducted with UK among others. Still a closed Defence area, a small park has remnants of war games and boys' toys.
