"Endeavour" in Sydney
The Australian National Maritime Museum has a replica of HMS Endeavour , the ship used by Captain Cook in 1770 to map the eastern coast of Australia. In the foreground one of Sydney's catamaran ferries. See also PiP.

Dawn light
The first rays of sunlight hitting the buildings in Sydney, at the start of my travels. I'm now back again.
Perth sunrise
Perth sunrise viewed from the hotel where I stayed, part of the Swan River at right. Good on black.
Relaxing at the Quay
Still in Perth at Elizabeth Quay, where a number of people were relaxing in the very pleasant sunny weather. HBM and have a great week, everyone.

Reflecting on Perth
One thing that struck me in Perth was that quite a few of the old buildings have survived the rush to build glass towers, unlike some other Australian cities. For my money, the city is the better for it. For interest, in this shot, the sunlight on the older building is being reflected from the building nearer me.
Adnate Mural
There's an Australian hotel chain adding murals to their buildings, in this case giving the hotel the name of the artist - Tim Adnate. The 25 storey mural is one of the world's largest - you can read more about it here.
Sydney Opera House - way back!
There have been some celebrations this week over the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Sydney Opera House. Which made it vaguely relevant to post this photo, taken from the Manly Ferry and with construction still having a long way to go in late 1965. The Opera House and the city both look a bit different these days! From an old Kodachrome II slide.
Canberra - Australia's Capital City
View from the lookout on Mt Ainslie across Canberra, Australia's beautiful capital city. In the middle distance is the Australian War Memorial, with Anzac Parade leading from it toward Lake Burley Griffin and, further, toward the old and new Parliament House buildings. The main city centre is to the right. Best viewed on black.
Near the city
There can't be too many cities with cliffs nearby that are suitable for rock climbing and abseiling! After a day at work, it now seems a popular way for many to relax in Brisbane (see also the note). View large.
On the subject of rocks, a parting link to one the greatest rockers.
Explored.
