Der River Dart ist da wirklich speziell, denn Totnes liegt eigentlich noch ein gutes Stück weit weg vom Meer, dennoch erreicht die starke Tide die Stadt über den Dart bzw. dessen tief ins Land reichende Mündung. Von Totnes bis zum Meer gibt es deshalb auch keine Brücke mehr, die über den Dart führt.
