Metallica - Nothing Else Matters Stretched to 800%: soundcloud.com/belloww/metallica-nothing-else-matters-stretched-to-800
Once again a lucky coincidence was on my way. During last week I suggested my friends at The Sunday Challenge group to shoot something "big" for this week's Metal challenge, something like ship, bridge or Eiffel tower...
Yesterday I went to shoot the contents of a scrap metal container. And there it was: a clock illustrated with Eiffel tower! And the view was just as seen on the picture. Nothing moved or added =)
But please do open in full size and notice the post processing trick... ;-)
The "bleeding colors" is made with GIMP wind effect. First image has to be turned 90 degrees during editing. Then the wind effect is combined in two stages, using two layers, where the 'Color' layer mode is used on one layer, and 'Hue' layer mode on another.

My little town revisited

More than 15 years of "GIMPing", and I still keep on learning new tricks! =D
As you may have noticed/guessed, I have combined here two polar coordinate images.
Instructions in short:
1) scale the base image to square.
2) duplicate the base layer.
3) add alpha channel to duplicate.
4) scale the duplicate by making it somewhat narrower (e.g. 3/5 ratio), and then run 'Layer to Image Size'.
5) run polar coordinates, and you should get 3/5 circular sector.
6) repeat stages from 2 to 5, except use 2/5 ratio for the duplicate, and use 'Map Backwards' when running the polar coordinates.
7) merge the circular sector images.
8) rotate layer, if you wish.
9) run 'Lens Distortion' to stretch the circle to corners. You can also first move the circle for example closer to bottom, and then with 'Main' and 'Y shift' stretch the image.
The whole idea is to create 'My Little Planet' images from almost any image, and avoid the problem of very obvious joint between edges. Because the sectors are not equally wide, the outcome is also much nicer.
