in windows movie maker, when you are laying out clips on the time line, there's a way to drag the last clip over the preceeding one,... It happens when you drag clips into the time line, Left click on the clip and drag it over, I do it all the time because I sometimes have too much footage.

I can't think of a year two, only the next video, and planning that is impossible,...
