I was at a groundbreaking ceremony today where there were a few photographers. At some point in the proceedings I spotted this lens sitting atop a loudspeaker. There were no photographers nearby. It was not at all obvious who owned the lens. Who does this sort of thing, leaving a lens exposed and unwatched in public?

The building whose windows are reflecting the light of sunrise behind me is 245 Summer Street, which was an engineering firm at the time of this photo (early 1980s), but today is the headquarters for Fidelity Investments.
