One has to assume rain up river. Google Earth shows in going blue at Lake Mead and below Hoover Dam, as the sediments have settled out.

Ah yes, I saw the same in Bern, after a night of rain some miles away.The river was blue and the next day it was brown.

This is the river turn where James Dean, in the film Rebel Without a Cause, was racing toward the edge of the cliff and whoever was jumping out of its car first was declared the "chicken"
