Lest We Forget ~ Sand Sculpture

Lest We Forget ~ Sand Sculpture
Lest We Forget ~ A sand sculpture I saw in Weymouth.

The phrase "lest we forget" is intended to warn people against forgetting those who fought and died for their country. Its literal translation is "should not be forgotten". This is why it is often heard during Remembrance Day commemorations. It is often inscribed on war memorials and graves. The simple quote asks people to remember the fallen and the sacrifices they made.

Istvan Farkas, Helena Ferreira, Malik Raoulda, micritter and 29 other people have particularly liked this photo

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
I think some sort of monument is made each year Peter. I think they have a resident sand sculptor in Weymouth. There have been displays that I remember since the late 1950's.

A great image and a tribute to those millions.

PS I am not sure what a Sand sculpture is. Made out of compressed mud/earth?

PS I lived in a house entirely made of mud, only load bearing was laterite stones, about l25 years old, still stands in my native place!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Dinesh club
Yes indeed Dinesh.

It is just sand and water to make the sculptures. On our visits to Weymouth, when I was a child, I used to love watching them being made. Apparently Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare have the perfect sand for such sculptures.

The house you once lived in sounds amazing Dinesh. Very different to where you live now no doubt.
