This curious antique navigation aid is at the entrance to Newhaven Harbour. Its red light can be seen in the projecting bay window.

I do not think that it has moved for many years. It is a navigation aid at the entrance to Newhaven harbour. It is a small port with a ferry service to Dieppe in France - about four hours away. There are two or three sailings a day. The freight is mainly scrap metal, which can be seen on the quay opposite. Dredged shingle aggregate is off-loaded there and distributed by rail. There is also a small fishing fleet and a support base for the Rampion off-shore wind farm.
