Oh my, this is really so lovely! Your crepe myrtle reminds me of all the seeds that I have from several colors of these small trees/lg shrubs. I was so surprised when so many sprouted!!! At one point I had about 50+ small plants growing, but alas, I was trying to do too much and had tons of other things growing too...in the end everything died. A shame...the myrtles were doing very well too. Maybe I'll try again with the other seeds I have, and THIS TIME I won't try to do so much! :)

Thankyou Janet !

Here there are many. There is a dark red variety(the OU colours being red and cream... you see it alot !) that I would rather like... but.. we shall see. I have lost major trees to drought here and I am nursing on 9 tiny mixed trees... Most wont make the first five years sadly. DO try again though !!

I love crepe myrtles. They won't grow where I live, so I have a few sorry pot bound ones that flower intermittently if they are watered sufficiently and we have enough sun. They live in my dark basement during the winter.

Esther....

I hadnt seen them except I photos till I came to the USA...

They are the landscaping tree here as they can cope with drought and heat and ice storms !

Cut them back as they only flower on the new growth.. dont be afraid to hard prune... water.. yes... they need they to encourage flowers.....

They now also do produce smaller varieties... much more shrub sized....

I know what it is like to have to try and coax things in dark places !!! Been there !
