Florence rooftops with Duomo

Florence rooftops with Duomo
The Duomo in Florence, also known as Florence Cathedral, is very difficult to photograph from street level. The streets are narrow and usually full of people, shoppers and tourists. This picture was taken from a small café terrace which in addition to serving good food and drinks allows this splendid view to the cathedral over the rooftops of Florence.
The cathedral named in honour of Santa Maria del Fiore is a vast Gothic structure built on the site of the 7th century church of Santa Reparata, the remains of which can be seen in the crypt.
The dome is an architectural marvel, as there is another dome underneath the one we can see from the outside.
