Monday 15 May 2023 (1153) – Stagecoach East Park & Ride buses in Cambridge. On the right is one of the first of the thirty new MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers delivery of which began during April 2023. Fleet numbers are to be 86001-86030 and 86001 is seen here working service PR2 to Newmarket Road. The five different Park & Ride services had each been operated by buses in their own individual colour. The new electric buses all wear the same livery with the colour of the site used for the characters in the destination display. The main subject of the photograph is 10791 (SN66 VZO) working service PR5 to Milton. It is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC which, when new in December 2016, carried the cerise livery for the Madingley Road service PR1. It now carries the Stagecoach ‘local’ bus livery.

Sunday 21 May 2023 (1058) – The annual Fenland Busfest is held in the town centre of Whittlesey occupying Broad Street and Market Street with the rally control/bus ride departures centred on the Market Place. Stagecoach East 10857 (YX67 VDC), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC new in September 2017, from the present day fleet operated in the Peterborough area.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1101) – Stagecoach East 15814 (AE12 CKK) passing Emmanuel College on St. Andrew’s Street in Cambridge seen from the upper deck of 86002 (BV23 NRE) which was parked in Downing Street working service PR3 to Trumpington Park & Ride. 15814, an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in July 2012, carries the ocean green ‘specialist’ services livery for use on the Busway although I believe it is now no longer employed so. For over two years this bus has been operating without any fleetnames - quite shameful for a big group company. It does look like it is now in need of a repaint which will enable an identity to be restored.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1101) – Stagecoach East 15462 (AE09 GYK), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) bodied Scania N230OD new in March 2009, seen in Regent Street, Cambridge from the upper deck of 86002 (BV23 NRE) working service PR3 to Trumpington. Way ahead in the background is 15814 (AE12 CKK), also an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD but new in July 2012. It carries the ocean green ‘specialist’ services livery for use on the Busway although I believe it is now no longer employed so.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1103) – Traffic in Regent Street, Cambridge at the New Cross junction seen from the upper deck of Stagecoach East 86002 (BV23 NRE) working service PR3 to Trumpington Park & Ride. Two other Stagecoach East buses are in the view. Directly in front is 15814 (AE12 CKK), a rather tatty looking n Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in July 2012, which carries the ocean green ‘specialist’ services livery for use on the Busway although I believe it is now no longer employed so. For over two years this bus has been operating without any fleetnames - quite shameful for a big group company. It does look like it is now in need of a repaint which will enable an identity to be restored. Approaching is Stagecoach East 10798 (SN66 VZW) seen on Newmarket Road heading into Cambridge city centre when working Park & Ride service PR2 from Babraham Road. It is an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC new in January 2017. Before it was handed over to Stagecoach East it had, along with a number of other vehicles, been temporarily assigned to Stagecoach Merseyside (Glenvale) to provide increased capacity during railway engineering works on the Merseyrail Wirral line.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1204) – Stagecoach East buses on Emmanuel Road passing New Square in Cambridge. The photo was taken from the upper deck of Stagecoach East 86001 (BV23 NPZ) one of the thirty MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers delivery of which began in April 2023. 15643 (SF10 CDE) is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD that was new to Stagecoach Western Buses in Scotland in May 2010. Following is another example of the new MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1114) – Stagecoach East 21363 (BU69 XXA), an MCV eVoRa bodied Volvo B8RLE new in February 2020, seen at the Trumpington Park & Ride site, Cambridge prior to working the 1115 Busway service A to St. Ives. Service A would normally travel via the Southern Busway from here to serve Addenbrooke’s Hospital then Cambridge railway station. However, that part of the Busway is closed from 1 May until ‘early July’ 2023 in order that Network Rail may construct a new crossing point as part of the new Cambridge South railway station project.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1200) – Four Stagecoach East buses with Enviro400 bodywork by Alexander Dennis (ADL) seen in Emmanuel Street, Cambridge. Whoever said Stagecoach buses were all the same corporate colour. Monday 15 May 2023 (1048) – A2B Travel Group AU53 HKD seen leaving Drummer Street bus station, Cambridge when working the 1015 service 114 from Addenbrooke’s Hospital to Chesterton. This cross town service makes a call at the bus station timed at 1045. It is a Transbus (Alexander) ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL new October 2003 to First Eastern Counties. The colour scheme and wording above the driver’s cab window remain the Ipswich Reds network operated FEC.

It is one of twelve 98 seat Alexander Dennis Enviro400XLB bodied Volvo B8L tri-axle double deckers delivered in December 2019. In the background is Stephensons of Essex 470 (SN66 WLO), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D that had been new to Dunn-Line (1406) in November 2016, loading as the 1150 service 11 to Newmarket.

Stagecoach East 10800 (SN66 VZY), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC that wears the green Babraham Road Park & Ride livery. It was new in December 2016 but before arriving at Cambridge it was one of a number of buses temporarily assigned to Stagecoach Merseyside (Glenvale) to provide increased capacity during railway engineering works on the Merseyrail Wirral line. During November 2016 the Park & Ride services were revamped to eliminate cross city operation, each of the five sites being served with buses in a different colour running between the site and the city centre only. Babraham Road retained green and Trumpington retained blue whilst Newmarket Road changed to Orange, Milton to Purple and Madingley Road to Fuchsia. During April 2023 the first of the thirty MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers began to arrive at Stagecoach East for operation on the Park & Ride services. One of those is just visible on the left in the distant background.

Monday 15 May 2023 (1201) – Stagecoach East 10789 (SN66 VZL), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC new in December 2016, seen in St. Andrew’s Street, Cambridge. It wears the fushia livery for the Madingley Road Park & Ride service although here is working the cross city ‘Citi 1’ service from Fulbourn to Arbury. In November 2016 the Park & Ride services were revamped to eliminate cross city operation, each of the five sites being served with buses in a different colour running between the site and the city centre only. Babraham Road retained green and Trumpington retained blue whilst Newmarket Road changed to Orange, Milton to Purple and Madingley Road to Fuchsia. During the Covid-19 pandemic period the Park & Ride buses ventured on to other different services as operational requirements changed. In May 2023 the first of the thirty MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers began operating the Park & Ride services from mid-May resulting in a number of the original buses ousted to other work as seen here. It is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Trident new in April 2010. Passing in the background is one of the twelve 98 seat Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400XLB bodied Volvo B8L tri-axle double deckers delivered in December 2019 Busway services. They carry the ocean green ‘specialist services’ livery.
