HBM, Carol.

Thank you very much Jose. That might be worth considering on the next visit but perhaps from a different viewpoint. I wanted the streetlamps as a focus but did not want them in the centre.

Those lights are certainly very appropriate to the geology of the area and, on a warmer day than this appears to be, the benches would be well suited for enjoying views of the beach. HBM, Carol and have a great week.

Ecobird club has replied to tiabunna club
You are right George. Lyme Regis is part of the Jurassic Coast, an area rich in fossils, and the lights here are inspired by Ammonites.

I understand that a statue of the local fossil hunter Mary Anning has just been unveiled there.
She was the first person to discover a complete plesiosaurus, back in 1823.

Lovely perspective and interesting view here Carol. The rather elegant lamp posts sit well with the similarly elegant building nearest camera.

HBM and enjoy your week

Ecobird club has replied to Doug Shepherd club
Thank you very much Doug. The ammonite design of the lamp posts are a nod to the fact that this is part of the Jurassic Coast, rich in fossils. Mary Anning, local paeleontologist, fossil collector and dealer made some amzing discoveries, including that of an ichthyosaur skeleton and later a complete plesiosaurus. She never received the recognition she deserved, but a statue of her has recently been unveiled in Lyme Regis so I would like to go back to see it.

A perfect perspective to show the lights beautifully. I have left the bench group for now, so I will just wish you a good and hopefully sunny new week.

Thank you very much Guni. It is a lovely little place, originally called Lyme but became Lyme Regis when it received a royal charter from King Edward I in 1284 Famous for it's harbour wall known as The Cobb, and for fossils which is why the lights are in the shape of ammonites.

A well composed image, Carol. I love the juxtaposition, throughout the frame, of curves and straight lines. Seeing the ammonites on the lamp posts reminds me of reading "Remarkable Creatures" by Tracy Chevalier, which was a fictionalized account of the Mary Anning to whom you allude in a previous comment. Cheers, Joe

Thank you very much for your kind words Joe.
Thank you very much for the information. I will look it up. I only read today about the film of her life 'Ammonite' where a professor was saying about the lack of evidence to support some of the detail, but I guess you kind of expect that from films, don't you?

I like this picture very much!
It is a very different composition, especially the lights. (Seem to be a popular theme this week!)
I have seen many variations on this theme, such as dolphins, fish, etc..
Fantastic colours too

This Ammonite Lights are just gorgeous, what a wonderful design.
I am just reading about Lyme in Jane Austen's "Persuasion" ... I expect it has changed a bit since her time :-)
Ecobird club has replied to Sarah P. club
Thank you very much Sarah I am not sure that it has changed that much. The famous Cobb harbour wall is still there, sloping badly and quite uneven and I must admit to not being totally comfortable up there, particularly in windy weather. "Granny's Teeth", the set of steps cut into the wall of the Cobb are still in use. You will know this as the set of steps from which Louisa Musgrove fell in Persuasion. I have some photos in my gallery of ladies in costume on the Cobb, which we imagine is something to do with the Jane Austen connection.

The latest addition is the recently unveiled statue of Mary Anning, the local fossil hunter, dealer and paeleontologist
