The Bell Homestead (heute 'Melville House' an der 'Bell Homestead National Historic Site') in Brantford (ON).
Diese kleine Farm war das erste Zuhause der im August 1870 aus Schottland und England eingewanderten Familie Bell nach ihrer Ankunft in Kanada.
Alexander Graham Bells entwickelte hier die bisher gebauten Apparate zu einem gebrauchsfähigen Telefonapparat weiter und gilt seither als Erfinder des Telefons (offiziell gilt der 26. Juli 1874 als das Datum, an dem das Telefon erfunden wurde).
1881 verkauften die Bells die Farm und zogen nach Washington DC, der Hof wurde 1909 dem 'Brantford Parks Department' gespendet.
Königin Elizabeth II. (* 21. April 1926; † 8. September 2022) * erklärte das Bell Homestead am 28. Juni 1997 zur *Canadian National Historic Site*.
* Die britische Monarchin bzw. der britische Monarch ist offiziell Staatsoberhaupt von Kanada, vertreten durch den für jeweils fünf Jahre ernannten 'Governor General'.
