hier wars ungefähr: a Magyar Vizsla sailing the ship of fools with many fools and dark stormy clouds Hieronymus Bosch style, and a bench drifting in the sea

den Bootsnamen habe ich von einem anderen Bild (da hieß das Boot Kools, das musste ich noch nacharbeiten) in Paintshop hierher eingefügt

vielen Dank für das Lob!

A great imaginative image from the likes of 'Bing Image Creator' but is it photography as we know it here on Ipernity? It seems so!

Some years ago I had a discussion why do people photography. And I said because I'm to heavy-handed to paint.....

So this AI stuff is perfect ;-)

thank you very much!

Herb Riddle club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo club
In that Markus, I share your thoughts. I too used to say that I did photography as I could not draw or paint the things I saw and loved. (I have since learned to do so, in a fashion :)) Also, I share in some ways your new love for AI. I have had a passion for AI landscape creation done on my computer (World Creator/Unreal projects). Underneath (I am sure like you) still believe photography is about looking through a viewfinder, composing and pressing the button. The rest, as you say yourself, is art creation.

I have and still do enjoy your shared AI images here and truth be known have even made a few images myself with B.I.C

Thanks and Best Wishes. Herbert

You turned to Géricault with this Medusa raft... well, not really photography as we usually intend here, is it? But funny nevertheless.
HBM on the raft, try not to fall in water, there must be hungry sharks waiting down there !

see my reply to Herb above, please.

some 150 years ago painters mocked that new-fashioned way of making pictures with a wooden box and a glass plate with silver iodide, and 120 years later people said photography without film is not photography and the pictures lack the graiin and they are way too perfect to be true.....

life's an endless flow of innovation.

re the sharks: I hope the bench is high enough to be a safe place ;-)))

thank you very much!

Indeed it is an evolution, what I mean is that image created using AI is a different thing than photographing what we see and deliver it as it is. As I already told on ipernity my goal is using as little post precessing as possible, I prefer SOOC photos.
Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy looking at your doggie creations that are very funny and make me smile, but for me it is something else than photography, let’s say a new form of Art using photography as basis.
Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Xata club
My thoughts exactly. Although I must admit I do postprocess a little, such as the occasional cropping, sharpening the contrast, or a bit of color adjustment. An AI image once in a while is fine with me to brighten up the photo gallery. After all those AI images are always good for a smile, some may have a more serious intention, but after all they're nothing but borrowed pixels of photos that other people had previously taken, perhaps even one's own photos ;-))
Boarischa Krautmo club has replied to Xata club
Yes, it's different from photography, esp. from OOC-photography. But, to be honest, many of my forest pictures rest upon a lot of postprocessing to get that look I have in my head (and want to get on my screen, too). So it's difficult to draw a line between natural and artificial. And now think of your camera's firmware programmer - how artificial is a OOC-picture?

ok, to come to the doggies - it's most of all fun to create pictures noone expected ;-)))
Boarischa Krautmo club has replied to Edna Edenkoben club
yes, it's only maths - statstics to be precise. ;-)
But with funny results.
Edna Edenkoben club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo club
Maths is supposed to be very unfunny! ;-))
Xata club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo club
" how artificial is a OOC-picture?" is indeed a good question. With film we used to process while developping...
I realize with the Nikon D800 I have to process maybe a bit more than with Leica, but with the right settings shooting manual I almost get exactly what catched my eye and motivated the "clic". Some people shoot first, sometimes in burst, to get eventually a good photo. I am the other type: I look first and then, maybe, I take a photo choosing my settings accordingly. Different perceptions.
For me the fun part is taking the photo, the boring part is uploading it, open in photoshop, process or not, give a title, put in the library, export to ipernity, flickr and two external drives. This is why my lazy me will not try the AI but just enjoy your creations !

Herb Riddle club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo club
OOC ? - I had to look that up as 'Out of Camera'. Yes, since I take all my photos in RAW, then all my photos on IP might be considered OCC.
Boarischa Krautmo club has replied to Xata club
to go back to the film days: the time you develop the film maks the film lighter or darker....
the time you expose your print makes the pic lighter or darker
the paper you choose makes tho contrast higher or less higher
the developer and developing time ou choose makes the print lighter or darker
(insufficient) fixing makes the Pic altering or not
whether you put it in an album or nail it on a wall makes the colours change more or less...

and now for digital üpics
What's your screen's gamut and gamma?
Is your colour balance correct? And is mine? Do I see the same pic you uploaded?
And is the surrounding light identical?

In my point of view there is no such thing as an absolute, accurate picture. We see a scene, in our respective way of seeing, we create a picture of that scenery in our head - and then we try to depict it with our respective cameras with their respective representation of colours and luminosity and contrast....

and then we show it on the net on screens with a gamut of 20 % of our human gamut and argue about colour fidelity and brightness ;-)))

Did I mention that I do have a glass of Tullamore Dew here and I can't share the taste with you? You need to get your own bottle ... ;-)
this net thing isok, but not perfect ;-)

Boarischa Krautmo club has replied to Herb Riddle club
to a certain extent: Yes.
But I'm not a RAW converter - I have to rely on whatever my machine shows me.... ;-)

back to tpic:
AI pictures are for sure not photography - but photograhs are not reality either.
The only difference is the amount of your personal impact - but this impact is alwys given.

Xata club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo club
I have excellent whisky too at home, but too early now for a drink... so sorry we can only imagine the taste and not share it online!
I enjoyed the dark room... it was for me like a ritual, I can't find that pleasure on post processing.
I do it on an iMac 27", specially calibrated for photography. So I can assume what it renders is correct. But as you point out not everyone has a correctly calibrated screen, sometimes I see some "awfully shocking" works here, but does the author see it like that in his screen? And we all have different sensibility to colours...
Well...vast debate !!!!
