American pokeweed remedy or poison?
The American pokeweed, its natural range is found in North America, in some areas of Eurasia it is a neophyte. In various areas of Europe it is considered an invasive species.

Raw, undercooked parts of the plant are poisonous. Vomiting, bloody diarrhoea, dizziness, drop in blood pressure, convulsions, respiratory paralysis which can also lead to death.

The berries were formerly used in various countries for dyeing red wine, sugar dyes, textile dye and as ink or as an emetic and laxative, they were also used against rheumatism, autoimmune diseases, glandular swellings, ulcer, bronchitis and cancer, they are said to have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, expectorant and narcotic effects.

Traktor 49, Luc Reiniche, Guydel, Heide and 36 other people have particularly liked this photo

Amazing information here, of this plant. I suppose you'd have to be absolutely sure you know what you're doing if you should have any of these berries. These are fantastic photos of the berries Aschi.

Die Kermesbeere hat sich auch in meinem Garten angesiedelt, allerdings die Indische Kermesbeere (Phytolacca acinosa). Die ist nicht so stark giftig.
Gift oder Heilmittel ist von der Dosis abhängig.
