Iceland, Volcanic Craters of the South-West Branch of the Lakagigar Chain

Iceland, Volcanic Craters of the South-West Branch of the Lakagigar Chain
Lakagigar is a shield volcano in the south of Iceland. It is a chain of more than 110-115 craters up to 818 m high (the relative height of the lava cones above the basalt cover is 80-90 m), stretching for 25 km. Lakagigar is located between the Mýrdalsjökull and Vatnajökull glaciers, in an area of faults that extend from southwest to northeast

The photo was taken from the middle of the climb from the southwest to the highest cone of the crater chain - the cone of Laki (818m above sea level)

Petar Bojić, Nouchetdu38, Berny, Marco F. Delminho and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

But more interesting view is to the East to the Vatnajökull glacier.
