Helpline

Helpline
I'm planning to set up a Helpline for distressed Ipernians.
It will offer confidential support and counselling.
I know it's hard to face people at the moment. Everything seems black, or black and white...or grey...
Don't do anything hasty. Try not to take your feelings out on your partner.
Talk to someone now. Pick up the phone.
You may find this recorded message helpful:

"The course of true love never did run smooth.." A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Nouchetdu38, Dominique-Lucy Renson, Au Cœur... diagonalhorizon, Hervé S. and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

Hold on in there Amelia. I've got some comforting music for you to listen to while you wait.

Please pencil me in. Instantaneous joy is almost sure to lead to a crash. Need books, dessert, candy, or old TV.

I'm pleased that you're feeling better Smiley, and pleased that you have some insight into how slow and subject to further setbacks full recovery can be.

"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed"

Can members of the IMA have privileged access, at least until Friday?
;)

Steve Bucknell club has replied to Eric Desjours club
All calls will be treated equally, but I recognise that members of the IMA may feel particularly stressed at the moment!

great image, but, all I get is "hello, hello? Sorry, wrong number"

Steve Bucknell club has replied to Amazingstoker
I think you must be calling Hee's Chinese Restaurant.
Amazingstoker has replied to Steve Bucknell club
No, that would have been "hello, hello? Sorry Wong number"

not been to Hee's in some years . . . .
[edit: it had the distinction of being a non-London restaurant that was listed in TimeOut in the 80s]

The Helpline is being sponsored by Mr. Hee who is an enthusiastic Ipernian. His pal Doctor Wu is also very supportive.

Very funny. Although I'd have gone in for a jolly old Dies Irae.
And my po'tic quote of the day is:
Sometimes I'm happy
Sometimes I'm blue
My disposition
Depends on you

Heyyy, wait a minute, mister...how did you get my most recent selfie? Someday I'll learn to wipe the lipstick off my teeth before clicking.

Thankfully, your free counseling will be needed by fewer Ipernians. I guess just the ones who were distressed regardless of Ip, mainly Americans, will be calling. My own advice has always been: When distressed, eat pie. A whole one, if necessary.

Steve Bucknell club has replied to Diane Putnam club
I hope you like my own new selfie that I added at the lower left of the frame, Diane. I expect you to help me with the helpline once the calls start rolling in.

I did have a call from a " Donnie" yesterday. He said things were getting really tough for him.

By the way, you're looking good after all those pies.
7 years ago. Edited 7 years ago.
Diane Putnam club has replied to Steve Bucknell club
I noticed that. I was afraid to ask...in fact I was just plain afraid. Usually, eyes rolling to the back denote a recent lobotomy. I wish you the best, Steve, I really do.

Aw, poor Donnie. Things will get a whole lot tougher once Kim gets up the nerve to stop huffing glue and fire off that nuclear weapon at us. Donnie's gonna finally get what he wants, at last: proof that everything's UNFAIR and SAD!
Steve Bucknell club has replied to Diane Putnam club
Not at all, Diane! The eyes rolled back simply denote an oculogyric crisis. And it's not the frontal lobotomy, but the bottle in front of me that I worry about.
