*wip* bal - Bala Lake Railway

For years, I have driven past Bala - just touching the eastern end - on one of the routes used to reach my [late] father's house in North Wales. But I had rarely ventured into Bala, or seen the full extent of Llyn Tegid [aka Bala Lake]. These images record my visit to the Bala Lake Railway and the co-located Llanuwchllyn Heritage Centre in 2019. As usual, Ben de-Dog was perfectly behaved. This is another of the "Great Little Trains of Wales" and I am fortunate enough to know a number of the people who work there. The BLR claims to be the home of the Quarry Hunslets, at least seven have been based there over the years. When there was a big gala at Portmadoc a few years ago, celebrating these little engines, the Festiniog sent a Geroge England loco, "Palmerston", to the BLR so all five engines could attend.
I am pleased to say that the railway's planned intended extension into a station in Bala itself seems to be making good progress with gaining permissions and funding.
