In just two months, from 1st September to the end of October 2021, over a dozen energy re-sellers have been forced out of business by the increases in wholesale gas prices vs the capped prices system. Ofgem [the UK regulator] allocates customers to a new supplier in these cases.
This crisis is not over, yet.
