Lunch, Acme Oyster House, Mandeville, Louisiana (HTT)

We visited the restaurant in Mandeville, near Fountainbleau State Park. Excellent oysters and crab cakes. An hour later a tornado went through the area. This restaurant is now closed, there are still branches of Acme around, check their website, 2022

Raspberries, Bergen, Norway (H.A.N.W.E.)

Delicious sight in the market. During our 2014 "Voyage of the Vikings" cruise, we stopped in Bergen for the day. Imagine our surprise, when we discovered that there was a "tall ships" event taking place. We enjoyed walking around the harbor admiring the classic sailing ships, and checking out the wonderful produce available in the stands. More photos at: swansongrp.com/bergen/ Image processed with GIMP.

Fudge at Buc-ees (H.A.N.W.E.)

A Texas institution, Buc-ees is a gigantic gas station/rest stop along the interstates. Among the amazing food items made and sold there, the fudge is very popular. www.buc-ees.com/index.php

In-N-Out Cheeseburger (H.A.N.W.E.)

Taken with the phone using opencamera, and processed (just a little) with GIMP. This is the In-N-Out cheeseburger, taken on September 18, 2019: National Cheeseburger Day! For In-N-Out fans: cheeseburger with one extra cheese (1x2), extra spread, extra toasting of the bun, no onion. I turned off the flash on the phone, so this is really taken by "available light". In fact, window light, which has its own lovely lighting quality.

Maui and Iced Tea

Ice tea, lit up by the beautiful sun of Maui. Taken on our lanai (front porch) which overlooked the Pacific Ocean. This was actually a lens test. I used the Nikon D50 we had at the time, but attached a non-automatic Nikkor 50mm F1.4 "classic" lens. I'm still using that manual, fixed lens for some activities, even though I don't have a Nikon camera any more. The sharpness is remarkable. Yes, that was our view from our living room and lanai, enjoyed it for 9 years. (The string you see over the fence was fishing line placed to keep the birds off of the barrier.)

In-N-Out on a Plate

Well, we are shut in. However, we were able to get out and get some In-N-Out burgers by going through the drive-thru. Fancy lunch, we put the burgers on plates. Yes, that's the REAL Dr. Pepper for lunch. Taken with the Panasonic GX85 using the 20mm fixed lens (great lens!) and on-camera flash. Edited with GIMP.

Chocolates at Maui Community College (H.A.N.W.E.)

We attended a student-run "final exam" dinner at Maui Community College. They have a very aggressive training program. These lovely chocolates were part of the dinner goodies. Something for those shut in, and thinking about chocolate, chocolate, chocolate....

Chocolate Chip Cookies

If you are shut-in, at least you can make your own cookies. These chocolate chip macadamia cookies were served at an Oktoberfest event held on Maui. (Yep, we celebrated Oktoberfest every year we were on the island.)
