St Ninian's Chapel

St Ninian's Chapel
St Ninian’s Chapel was first erected in the 1100s for the benefit of both local worshippers and pilgrims to St Ninian’s Shrine at Whithorn. The chapel we see today is a rebuild dating to about 1300.

It was one of several stopping-places for the pilgrims, including Chapel Finian and the Laggangarn Standing Stones. Today, pilgrims are invited to add stones to a modern Witness Cairn on the field.

Ecobird, Annemarie, Marco F. Delminho, Fred Fouarge and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

The ruins of the chapel are in excellent condition for their age and they look lovely in the daisy-covered landscape with the stones in the foreground. A lovely sky too.

Beautifully composed and taken TOZ!

A lovely shot TOZ This was all fenced off when we last visited. I must admit to being a tad envious. I love this area. I hope you got tons of phootos.
