What is ipernity?

← Back to Index Ipernity is a non-commercial photo-sharing community with its own website. All costs for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the website are covered by membership fees only. No revenue is generated by advertising, data trading or sale of any content. Paying members have voting rights at the yearly general assembly and therefore are involved in important decisions about ipternity's future. Upload and organize your photos. At ipernity you can upload photos to your account and organize them into albums and folders. Ipernity always stores the original files. So you can get back your photos without loss of quality. Enrich your photos with additional information. You can add meaningful titles, detailed descriptions and keywords to your photos. This allows you to tell the story behind your photos. Interact with other members. Ipernity offers a broad array of tools for social interaction. Add other users as your contacts and see their newest content on your personal news page. You can mark as Favorite, the photos of other members and comment on them. Become a member of photo groups or create your own groups. Write and publish your own blog articles. On ipernity you cannot only upload photos. You can write and publish blog articles, too. And of course you can add your own photos to them. There is a lot more to learn about ipernity. Curious? Then register for a free trial. For instructions how to do that see the answer to 2.1 How do I register for a free trial?

Is ipernity a free or a paid service?

← Back to Index As ipernity doesn't generate revenue by ads, trading data or selling content it solely relies on subscription fees. In order to permanently store and publish a substantial amount of own content you therefore need to subscribe to one of our paid accounts. There are two ways that you can test ipernity for free: 1. When you register for an ipernity account you will initially have a free Guest account. It allows you to put online up to 100 entries and actively participate in up to 10 groups. You can view and comment on other users' public content, browse picture galleries, read blogs, search ipernity for keywords, and even see private content you've been invited to. You can use a Guest account to get to know ipernity a little bit, but there are a lot of restrictions for Guest accounts. 2. You can book a 3-month free trial. During this period you will have access to all the features of a Standard account. After this trial period your account will become a Guest account again unless you choose the 9 months extension for Initial Standard Club subscription. Each user can book the 3-month trial only once.

What subscription plans does ipernity offer?

← Back to Index In order to make the most of your ipernity account you need to subscribe for one of our paid plans. With the Standard package you can store up to 100 GB and there is no monthly upload limit and no limit with respect to the number of photos. With the standard package you have access to all features of ipernity. Our Basic package is more affordable but has stronger restrictions on the storage (5 GB), monthly upload volume (200 MB) and the total number of items that may be uploaded (2000). Further more some features of ipernity are not available with the Basic package. It can be booked when you renew a paid account. First time subscribers to a paid account are only offered the Standard package as they are only charged the price of the Basic package for the first twelve months. The Plus package has the same set of features as the Standard package but it includes 250 GB of storage. If this isn't enough you can book as many additional 250 GB packages as you want. Our Guest accounts are free. They are mainly intended to browse content at ipernity and interact with members. But they allow only a very limited number of uploads and you can only access a limited set of features. You can find a detailed comparison of the different subscription plans and prices here .

Are there notes on getting started?

← Back to Index Information for New Members Welcome to ipernity, probably the largest non-commercial online photo club in the world with our own photo and blog sharing platform for members and guests. You have probably already explored what distinguishes us from commercial photo-sharing services on our Explore page. To help you find your way around after registering as a club member, we would like to give you a few tips: ● Our club life mainly takes place in our groups. It therefore makes little sense to simply upload pictures and wait. Nothing will happen except that you will soon be frustrated. Some groups have photo challenges. Participating in such activities will help you become known. ● So post your uploads in appropriate groups where they will be seen by other ipernity members. You can find some representative groups by clicking on the Groups button. You can find more groups by entering a keyword in the search field. ● Draw attention to yourself by commenting on the posts of other club members. Your activity will quickly generate a response because ipernity is a very lively community. ● Visit the accounts of other members and leave traces there in the form of comments or favourites. If you like an account, you can invite that member as a contact. Network yourself. ● Tag your uploads with keywords so that they can be found when someone uses the search function in the header (next to the logo). ● Don't upload too many images at once. From experience, our members mainly look at the most recent uploads. It is best to spread series over several days. They will then attract more attention. You can find more useful tips in the Guide of good conduct . We also recommend that you regularly visit our Gallery of recently added photos that are popular . Enjoy the wide variety of photos. And by leaving your mark there, your network will grow. Our "club life" also takes place in the Club News . Every month, the development of ipernity is reported and discussed there. You may also be interested in the Annual report of the Club's Board , the Annual Financial Report and the Annual Accounts . You can find answers to many frequently asked questions in our FAQ . Last but not least: If you are trying out a 3-month free trial of full membership , then you are receiving the following additional features that are not included in a guest membership: - convenient geo-localization , - an extensive image organizer , - the world's best integrated translator (DeepL) , - an embedding function for images and/or notes in other images, - the individual design of your account , - many individual display settings (wide screen and more), - the possibility to create your own groups , - the ability to write blog articles , - file upload up to 500 MB (video, audio) , - the possibility to replace already uploaded files with amended versions, - and significantly increased upload limits . Have fun with ipernity Your ima team p.s. Our community was formed mostly by photographers. But it has also always been a home for other creative people. All kinds of creative expressions are welcome: photos, videos, music, essays, podcasts, poems, scanned painting and drawings - and now also Artificial Intelligence (AI) images as a special kind of DigiArt. As the world settles into more inclusion of Artificial Intelligence images (AI), and before external laws about them are resolved, we simply ask that if you upload an AI image to the website that you add either AI to the description of those type images or include the term AI in the keywords for that image. p.p.s. Note that the default upload is set to 'private'. This can be changed in your account settings.
