Another low light shot. Possibly worth a close-up view.

Sight and sound. In the realms of popular culture / music, Hendrix has always been my favourite. Stevie Winwood starred here as well.

Roger (Grisly), William Sutherland, Leo W, Nora Caracci and 23 other people have particularly liked this photo

Pleased you like the shot and the Hendrix link, Carol, thank you!
I know that both this type of low light shot and Hendrix aren't everyone's cup of tea!

A beautiful old chuch Andy........I especially like the high tower with the spires and weathervane. Lovely surrounding too.

You did well to get some decent definition in the grey clouds and I like the hint of pink.

Thank you Keith. Despite it being a roofless shell, it still commands the landscapes around here!
And I saw the touch of pink in the sky and hoped it would come through. I don't see it but am glad you do!

That's a beautiful church there Andy. I love the spires - and the design of the church is lovely, quite different from some old churches.

Thank you Jenny and Ulrich!
As described on other shots of this ruined church, there is no roof (it fell in the 1950s) so it's just a shell of a building. It's still a notable and well-known landmark though!

A nice perspective still showing the top of the wall Andy.
I was lucky enough to see Jimi Hendrix in 1967 in Bournemouth,
along with Cat Stevens and The Walker Brothers. Thanks for the link.

Thank you, Rosa. I envy you! There are only so many groups I would have absolutely loved to have seen live, Jimi obviously but also Santana and Led Zeppelin in their late 60s, early 70s pomp! Janis Joplin, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie and The Doors also spring to mind!.

Did I ever mention that Scott Engel (known as Scott Walker) was a client of mine? He was so reclusive that I could only ever deal with him through his manager who had to go in and out of his hideaway (a superior kind of garden shed) with my messages (I would be standing in the garden!) and his replies! Bizarre sounding now, but it seemed (relatively) normal then!

An austere but very evocative view of this site which, in spring, must be full of peaceful charms.
"If anyone ever asks you why people say Jimi Hendrix was the greatest guitarist in rock music, just let them hear this track", a youtube comment that I want to share because this live recording is so great, so representative of his musical genius. Thank you for the link Andy!

Beyond that I share your regrets! Except for Bowie, whom I saw in Paris.

There's a two minute solo in this that is the most soul-searching, dramatic, almost but not quite overwraught, challenging musically, and just downright the greatest guitar solo of all time (imho!)

Thank you, Roger. This church building is an empty shell after bits kept falling off throughout the 19th century and the roof caved in completely in the 1950s! The 'new' parish church has been used instead since about the 1880s (and is just across the road from it) but this old ruin is a feature and can be seen for miles around.
