The Seven Sisters

Taken from the beach just west of Cuckmere Haven. From my 2009 archives, inspired to be posted here by my Ipernity friend John Goodwins photo of almost the same: www.ipernity.com/doc/2248118/47020134 Enjoy the PiPs too.

The Seven Sisters from the old coastguards cottages.

One of the most beautiful scenes in the British Isles. Believe me, it was even more beautiful walking around here with these views and only the sound of sea birds for company. Inspired after seeing a recent photo in a fellow Ipernity collection by John Goodwin: www.ipernity.com/doc/2248118/47020146 I thought I would bring out an old Panoramio-like photo of mine when I was walking around these parts. Hope you think it was worth it! Enjoy full screen. SEE PIP for my other shot.

Death of a lighthouse!

Orfordness, Suffolk. In September 2012 we visited this wonderful lighthouse and as you can see it was in a fine state of repair. Today, we hear on our BBC news that it has closed its visitor doors for the last time, as the sea has encroached so near that it is very doubtful that it will survive this Winters storm season. Now, at high tide the waters almost lap this lighthouse and the nearest bungalow (behind the walking people here -see PiP) has almost fully collapsed. There has been talk of dismantling this lighthouse and reconstructing it some distance higher on the Island but to date nothing has happened. More info and The BBC

Girl on a bicycle

Seen in the seaside town of Seaford, Sussex. These are beach-huts lit up by the evening sun-set. Yes, talk about 'the Golden Hour'.

A view from Essex

Here is a photo from 2014, taken near the village of Bradwell-on-Sea. The star of the show undoubtedly is ‘The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall’. It is a Christian church dating from the years 660-662 and among the oldest largely intact churches in England. It is in regular use by the nearby Othona Community, in addition to Church of England services. It is a Grade I listed building. See PiP Nice full screen, enjoy the day.

HFF- The Blackwater estuary

A view of this big river estuary near Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, taken in 2014. Whether we would really call this a fence is a matter of opinion but it sure looks like one to me. A dark almost sunless day but just enough light to produce a cloud-scape like this. I believe the fishing is good here. Enjoy full screen Have a good weekend.

Essex fences

Another 2014 shot taken near Bradwell-on-Sea in the south eastern county of Essex. Nice full screen. This again is the Blackwater estuary. The fences are used to control and stem tidal erosion. See PiP Enjoy the weekend.
